About Bariatric Banter
Bariatric Banter is Canada’s top bariatric podcast, created because no one should have to figure out life after weight loss surgery alone. The show is hosted by Hannah and Steph, two women from Ontario who are living the bariatric journey themselves and sharing the real conversations they wished existed when they started. Every episode focuses on honest experiences, practical tools, and the day-to-day realities of long-term success after surgery.

I’m Hannah Cameron. I’m 38, a dog mom, a senior marketing executive, a runner in training and someone who has been learning how to rebuild her life one honest step at a time.
I had VSG in Guelph in 2023 after years of battling my weight, trying every so called solution out there and feeling like I was stuck in a cycle I could never break. By the time I reached surgery day, I was mentally and physically exhausted and ready to stop living in survival mode.
Since then, I have lost more than 150 pounds, started running and decided that training for a half marathon was a good life choice. I am still deciding if it was confidence or chaos that got me there. I have also learned that long term bariatric success is not a straight line. Regain happens. Motivation fades. Real life does not pause for surgery. I am committed to doing the work even when it feels messy or imperfect.
Outside of the bariatric world, I am an avid traveler who loves hopping on a plane, exploring new places and finally living a life I once felt too uncomfortable to enjoy. And yes, I am absolutely the person who treats my dog like a human child because she deserves it.
I share my story to remind people that you do not need perfection to make progress. You do not have to have everything figured out to change your life. You just need to keep choosing yourself. If I can rebuild my life through humor, stubbornness and a lot of trial and error, anyone can.
Steph @stephplomp
I’m Stephanie Plomp. I’m 40, married, a mom of two amazing girls, and proudly living the small-town life where everyone knows your business (and I usually overshare mine anyway).
After years of infertility, our family grew through adoption, which turned me into a full-on adoption advocate. I’m the hype-you-up, cry-with-you, walk-through-the-hard-stuff kind of person, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’ve spent most of my life battling obesity, food struggles, PCOS, thyroid issues, and basically every fad diet the internet has ever tried to sell me. If it promised a miracle, I probably clicked “buy now.” My weight went up, down, and everywhere in between like a very un-fun amusement park ride. Throw in perimenopause and the chaos only doubled.
When my doctor suggested bariatric surgery, I wasn’t exactly thrilled. But after some honest soul-searching, and realizing nothing else was working, I finally decided to go for it. Since then, I’ve lost over 135 pounds, and it’s truly the best decision I ever hesitated to make.
Now I share my story to help other women feel seen, supported, and a little less alone. If I can do this with all my chaos, sarcasm, and real-life mess, I promise you’re not too far gone. You’re just getting started.
Steph is a wife and mother who had her bariatric surgery just over a year ago. She is balancing family life while learning to put her own health first. Her perspective on showing up for herself, even on the hard days, helps listeners feel understood and supported.
